Down Or Out

Does anyone truly believe we’ve any chance at all
To reunite America? The writing’s on the wall

The die is cast, the stage is set, we do not have a prayer

The pressure’s on for all of us to give in to despair.

While Democrats try to restore the way things used to work

Before half of the country was conned by an orange jerk

Republicans embrace new nut case kooks within their ranks

And fly to Mar-A-Lago to kiss rings and offer thanks.

While Republicans post-Trump dig deep and don’t seek a way

To re-emerge from holes they’ve dug into our common clay

Democrats can’t believe they don’t want to dig back out

Because they can’t conceive how dear leaders maintain their clout.

It’s very easy to perceive the way two winds are blowing

And growing harder to hope seeds our history tried sowing

Can once again emerge above mass chaos spread about

To help dig all Americans from our deep hole back out.
