Off Ramps

At least a few former Republicans are jumping ship

Because they and morality are still joined at the hip

But they’re but a drop in the cesspool of a GOP

Intent on proving it’s a swamp of immorality

By embracing new kooks and keeping Trump top kook of all

And so ignoring those few who see writing on the wall.

There are not two political parties within our land

There is one party opposed by a mob Trump’s flames have fanned

Led by ass-kissing hypocrites still toadying for Trump

Because they fear they’ll lose both jobs and lives if they him dump

So enabled destruction of rule of law they applaud

And hope to save their party by again backing vote fraud.

Their ass-kissing hypocrisy displayed so overtly

Hides behind it rank cowardice they don’t want us to see

As all their bluster and increasing embrace of kook hacks

Gains ever more diminishing returns from their attacks

They’ll increase their resistance against the minority

They will become as we the people gain diversity.

They know if they don’t hold the line their dominance they’ll lose

And therefore have no qualms about elections they abuse

Because cheating’s the only way they’ve got to stay ahead

And so by their chief cheater their noses they still let led

As far as unity goes they’re united in belief

God-given right to rule justifies riots, death, and grief.

Republican leaders steer their fine mob with them as well

Down paths leading to those left in their party to self-hell

Behind the scenes their leaders bid the mob keep on descending

Down slopes they promise will lead back up to power unending

But while they double down actions sane leaders would not take

The first few brave ones with souls still intact to off-ramps take.
