Get It Done

The only way the Democrats will get anything done

Is by busting the filibuster that was first begun

To give racists the means to block civil rights legislation

And is maintaining still today a white supremest nation

As their minority grows ever smaller over time

The filibuster’s how they maintain sway despite decline.

The argument Robert Reich makes is clear as it can be

Why the hell does power rest with the minority?

Why do two senators from Wyoming have the same clout

That two from California do to turn laws inside out?

Democracy’s designed to keep majorities in charge

That’s why for white minorities filibusters loom large.

The filibuster is not based on anything at all

Within the Constitution nowhere can one it recall

So why should it still be respected when all there’s to do

Can be blocked by minority the bulk of us to screw?

It is past time to do away with it forevermore

And let majority rule back in our nation’s front door.

So why then the reluctance to the stupid thing efface

When it’s role is maintaining a self-proclaimed master race

Of rich entitled whites whose numbers decline day by day

While they defend entitlements they see fading away?

Does the majority still rule or will our nation slip

Into tyranny thanks to filibuster’s retained grip?
