Mean Competition

Apparently it’s not enough to in Louisiana
Be a child working as much hours as you canna
To supplement pittances paid to your family
Because it found no silver spoons grown on its family tree.

The state’s allowing children in it to work a whole bunch

And to make sure those kids remain productive outlawed lunch

No more will lunch breaks be permitted because they would mean

Cutting into profits business owners expect seen.

To this new low the state will go when its majority

Of GOP throughout all government branches agree

That letting kids eat lunch steals profits a smart business makes

And so to new low that state goes by forbidding lunch breaks.

But before Louisiana’s low’s chosen this week’s winner

In the downright mean category it’s growing dimmer

For sweating workers in the Sunshine State to stay hydrated

Because the GOP there has their water breaks negated.

I guess like lunch breaks for kids water breaks would also mean

Business owner’s profits can’t achieve levels obscene

As they’d be if breaks in red states had not been ruled unlawful

By GOP majorities competing for Most Awful.

Pick any MAGA state you choose and by law there you’ll find

Humanity and sanity seriously declined

And meanness risen up to levels never seen before

By Republicans who’ve kicked kindness out their state’s door.
