Standstill

Things have gotten so complex and so interconnected
All efforts to figure them out are now being rejected
By human brains befuddled by daily floods of facts
Claimed to be fake news by angry alternative attacks
Is this the way one nation ends, not with whimper nor bang
But with total confusion as its operating plan?

Things were tough enough before Dear Leader came to town
To turn his lies into truth claimed about all things he found
And thus through con convince mass millions in his cult believing
No matter what he says is true and make millions more grieving
For truth that won’t again be that on which two sides agree
And thus two warring camps stake counter truths out endlessly.

For both sides there’s no turning back, each has now walked too far

Along two paths to mental breakdown thanks to brains sub-par

Diverging in two ways without the means to fix and mend

Their woefully inadequate attempts to comprehend

Two angry sad hopeless befuddled worldviews in despair

Watching as lies fight truth to standstill beyond all repair.
