Truth Will Out, Maybe

‘Call the election corrupt and leave the rest up to me’
Is what Trump said to DOJ officials pleadingly
He never thought those words would be reported by the press
But they may put his lying ass on a jail-bound express.

Of course he will deny he said what he said like he does
Every time things he’s said and done prove he’s such a scuzz

But this time the words that he said although will say did not

Have broken laws so badly things for him will get more hot.

Every lawyer except those he promises he’ll pay

Says his words clearly show the evidence leading the way

Directly to his door where his failed coup attempt he planned

Grew into bloody insurrection through flames his words fanned.

Republicans he said would help the rest left up to him

By DOJ officials are now far out on their limb

They may be dumb enough to claim fine tourists alone came

But ‘leave the rest up to me’ and them is hard to contain.

‘Truth will out’ or it did once but now it’s not as certain

That words like Trump’s can tear a hole in the thick-woven curtain

Of lies he and his GOP toads weave thicker each day

We can but hope ‘leave the rest up to me’ speeds jail their way.
