Clout

It’s only one small data point but the point is it’s telling
About how things may at long last be changing despite yelling
From Trump about how vital his endorsement is to get
Because his chosen candidate in Texas lost her bet
That she would win hands down because she received Trump’s OK
Which shows the clout he claims he has may be slipping away.

It may be only one small data point so far compiled

But it’s enough apparently to get Trump’s people riled

His advisors are worried about what losses foretell

About his touted clout in handcarts going straight to Hell

So even though Trump declared the loss a ‘win’ victory

What it means to others he anoints we’ll wait and see.

Should one or two more little data points accumulate

Of losses by those Trump endorses it will not equate

To ‘wins’ he’ll claim after each loss by those he did endorse

But instead will foreshadow that his clout has run its course

As in primary run-off races the vote clout he claims

Along with losers he endorses gets flushed down vote drains.
