Knuckle Down

I’m shoving money to farmers as quickly as I can
To convince them MY Trade War Plan is a Tremendous Plan
I’ve told them to be patient and to believe what I say
And not to worry about lost income along the way
They are a big chunk of MY Base I can’t afford to lose
So I will write them big checks and hope they through Trade Wars snooze.

I’m robbing Peter to pay Paul because the next check goes
To miners, maybe, or to loggers to buy food and clothes
So they can eat and be dressed as they stand by patiently
Like farmers for their jobs to come back so wages they’ll see
I don’t know where the money will come from to write those checks
But it is not MY money so it does not ME much vex.

Who knew tariffs could hurt ALL the fine Base voters I need?
Apparently they impact rocks and trees and crops and seed
Well tough, I am sure that ALL in MY fine White Base agree
Their livelihoods aren’t as important as MY SENSE OF ME
As STRONGMAN I must show the world how STRONG a MAN I am
And that means keeping Trade Wars going as long as I can.

So knuckle down you farmers, miners, loggers, BELIEVE ME
MY Trade Wars will improve ALL your lives eventually
Though times are tough now AS ALL KNOW good times are on the way
Because MY tariffs will force ALL world trade to go MY way
It will NOT be long before those who trade capitulate
And once I’ve WON MY Trade Wars your lives will again be Great.
