Almost 200 House Republicans thought it a sin
When it came to lowering the cost of insulin
And so they voted “No” but thankfully did not hold sway
Enough to kill the bill and so it got passed anyway.
When it came to lowering the cost of insulin

Diabetic people to be helped by the result
Somehow overcame drug and insurance business clout
Somehow overcame drug and insurance business clout
And so they are elated that sick people were placed first
Among all but 200 who after rich donors thirst.
Democrats are ready next election time to pounce
Upon Republicans who their rich donor greed did flounce
But those Republicans know as long as big checks roll in
From their drug and insurance friends if they lose they still win.
Cushy comfortable Hill jobs are worth hanging on to
And hard to end with an anti-sick people ad or two
But even if some of the right’s one hundred ninety three
Who voted “No” lose re-election bids fine they will be.
They’ll be OK because they know there waits after the Hill
Fine cushy jobs in industries for which they once did shill
Their “No” votes to help keep drug and insurance profits high
Ensure if they do get defeated they won’t need to cry.
There is a big revolving door between rich industries
And those in Congress whose shilling secures consultancies
Or outright jobs wherein they’ll keep on fighting against laws
Proposed by Democrats to free poor people from rich jaws.
Ever faster the revolving door spins to the right
It used to spin more quietly but then Trump’s reign took flight
And thanks to him there’s not much need to hide one’s greed away
So loud it’s spun by those paid by those sick people must pay.
