Free States of Tyranny

In the “free state of Florida” things couldn’t be more swell
It has great weather freedom and freedom of speech they’ve sent to hell
The more Trump than Trump dictator is leading his state’s charge
To make a “free state” where tyranny can be written large
Which makes it a great place to live if you with him agree
That gays and blacks and kids and states have no right being free.

You can no longer say “gay” there or learn what teachers teach

Unless it’s been approved by parents fearful of free speech

Just like their governor himself who’s fighting tooth and nail

To make free speech within his state have no chance to prevail

And free speech in assembly to peacefully protest

He’s outlawing so dictators can dictate what is best.

In the alternate universe Floridians now dwell

What’s free in the self-called “free state” is what real freedoms quell

To comfort those who are afraid if school kids learn to think

They may decide bigoted homophobic adults stink

And if they say “gay” they may think their sexuality

Should be their choice and not what those adults say it must be.

And so Trump wannabe DeSantis and his minion crew

Are making a “free state of Florida” where freedom’s through

And making their state free of freedoms is a movement spreading

To other red states where freedom of speech cause tyrants dreading

Because it challenges the freedom of states to dictate

What legislatures decree to be free and say what ain’t.
