After the third day of his trial Trump’s toads all felt fine
Despite his lawyers blowing questions’ answers every time
They were prepared to vote to acquit as they’d been before
Those non-answers to all questions did nothing to implore

Them to convict he who their firm conviction would let off

By wrapping themselves in fig leaves at them the lawyers tossed.

But then there came a spanner thrown, a wrenching real news fact

That caused them pause from being certain they won their attack

Against the Dem’s attack upon their sacred chosen one

And reopened the can of worms they’d thought over and done

So now back to the drawing board they will have to retreat

To pull back up the fig leaves fallen down around their feet.

The spanner wrenched out of the blue to hit them in the head

Was one that unless they extract from all heads makes stone dead

The alternate reality Trump’s lawyers did debate

Before that wrenched wrenching spanner landed on their plate

To proof Trump knew Pence was in peril and did not one thing

To save him while Republicans and he were bickering.

 

No doubt they’ll reattach their figs and have another go

At justifying the way they had planned their votes to go

But it will now be harder to claim Trump’s guilt is not clear

With a big hard steel spanner stuck straight through from ear to ear

That’s driven home the point no matter what wrenched truths they twist

In contrast to hard facts their fig leaf shields are made of mist.
