Ego Honor

The 4th of July’s coming soon and I can hardly wait
I will wrap MYSELF in the flag and look supremely Great
ALL KNOW I’m NOT a “chickenhawk”, I am a PATRIOT
So as the “President” I demand MY land for ME rock
MY big parade is being planned, for now I have to wait
But on this coming July 4th MY EGO I will sate.

MY nation I decree MUST gather, MY whole country
And MUST honor with hand on heart their Supreme Leader ME
All military MUST stand at attention resolute
And every gun MUST fire in a billion gun salute
ALL day respect for ME MUST be and as the night draws nigh
ALL of MY missiles MUST be launched to light up the whole sky.

ALL tanks on land, ALL ships at sea, ALL planes up in the air
MUST fire guns to honor MY EGO beyond compare
ALL fireworks in every town across the USA
MUST be set off to honor ME upon the close of day
And far into the starry night toasts MUST be drunk to ME
The shining star-crossed Supreme Leader of MY country.

The birthday of a nation is a big deal, I suppose
As long as it first honors ME then I won’t it oppose
But Great honors had better be by MY subjects expressed
The way on that day I get honored is MY litmus test
If on the 4th of July MY EGO’s not satisfied
Starting July 5th MY cages will hold more inside.
