Hopeful Math

OK, it’s true that Trump in Iowa won big but Hey!
Do not despair, just do the math and things won’t look the way

They’ve been reported by Fox News, Newsmax, and OAN
Who declared him of landslide winners mightiest of men.

He won by 51% of the total vote count

And though no one came close that’s still not a landslide amount

Because 1) turnout wasn’t big and 2) three others ran

Whose vote count totaled just 4% behind the conman.

OK, you say but none of them came close to Donald Trump

So it sure seems like a landslide kicked each one in the rump

But math says it meant 47% want someone

Who wasn’t Trump to be first choice in candidate to come.

Perhaps that 47% will now band together

To vote for Trump…but maybe not…they may be a bellwether 

Of Republicans who want with Trump nothing to do

Because they see he is a bully with a real loose screw.

Ok, so maybe that’s slim hope but hope our country needs

So let’s do further math in hopes we find sums planting seeds

Of destruction for he who through his big lie did load

Himself at the top of the heap of candidates foretold.

Iowa’s vote turnout was light because snow was heavy

Many thousands less than twice before this time came ready

To cast more votes for Cancun Cruz than Trump two times ago

And for Trump the last time before loss led to big lie’s show.

And of all voters this time who braved death to Trump votes cast

Despite him saying their deaths were fine as long as the last

Thing they did was vote for him ‘ere from life they were riven

90.7% were White as snow there driven.

Iowa’s White population’s at the extreme end

Of the bell curve thus giving more math reason to defend

The hope that ‘though Trump’s win in Iowa’s called a landslide

It may not be the landslide he needs to as Prez reside.

OK, maybe it’s hopeful speculation to use math

But math is better than grasped straws along Iowa’s path

So let’s accept that Trump may be the GOP selection

But also hope math adds up to Presidential rejection.
