Favorable Odds

Deep in the heart of Texas if you vote you’d best be white
And being rich also helps but if not you’re still all right
As long as your skin color is as white as driven snow
Oh…and if it is Republican you cast your votes to go
So rich or poor but white far right means your votes mailed into
Texas will not be trashed with those from those not just like you.

The odds so far are 8 to 1 your votes will be accepted

But those odds will decrease as more non-white votes are rejected

So mail your ballots early and be sure you indicate

They come from fine white residents of the fine Lone Star State

And then relax because your candidate is sure to win

Since the only votes allowed will be white Republican.

Texas is the first of many states toeing the line

To turn their course of history back to that better time

Before black folks got uppity and somehow got the vote

And brown people snuck across borders or arrived by boat

Thus Texas is the bellwether leading Trump’s fine white flock

Back to before they lost God-given rights to non-whites block.
