Loan Entanglement

Today’s poem is a weird one, folks, but stick with it awhile
And it may finally make enough sense to bring forth a smile
The reason for its weirdness is its convoluted theme
About a bizarre loan request entangled to extreme.

Steve Bannon sought the loan as his involvement on Jan 6
Spiraled to the top of his staying out of jail list
Amid his mounting legal woes he sought to borrow dough
Against palatial property his non-profit did know.

The house was in Connecticut to which the loan applied
The loan request to a bank branch in Phoenix which was tied
To a Kansas-based lender via a Delaware firm
Named for the house address for which the loan request did yearn.

The house was owned (maybe) to a non-profit Bannon set
Up with a Chinese billionaire along the line he’d met
Who is a fugitive disinformation kingpin who
For illegal shenanigans SEC did pursue.

The tangled web this poem relates now adds another tangle
Because Bannon’s non-profit did not own the house his angle
Was to use as collateral for the loan being slated
Across three states and a Chinese crook all interrelated.

Of evidence Steve’s non non-profit owned the house there’s plenty
But sold it to a right-wing nut case back in 2020
Long before the loan requested passed through three whole states
And so the loan’s collateral is open to debates.

The tangled web theme in this poem at this point grows too weird
To attempt more untangling towards which it has veered
Because strange Chinese links and non non-profits are in play
Which are too hard to untangle given what’s known today.

Because this crooked Chinese guy entangled as can be
Has paid a half a billion buck fine to the SEC
And some kind of “Mountain of Spices” spices up the story
As both a bogus non-profit and also allegory.

For now this poem is giving up its attempt to unravel
The convoluted world Steve Bannon built to beat the gavel
And pay off mounting legal fees by requesting a loan
Based on a house he did not own and never called his home.

It’s time to leave Steve tangled up in his loan-seeking web
And return to reality and clarity instead
Here’s hoping that some future poem returning to these themes
Will find his ass in jail due to failure of weird loan schemes.
