Twenty years ago today planes destroyed the twin towers
Shaking belief in our country’s untouchable powers
And from then until now we’ve tried not to be a has-been
By throwing our muscle around the world and back again

To fight wars that no one can win and elect haughty clowns
Who deeper into mud and blood baths our poor nation pounds.

Today for many is a day of sad remembrance

And realizing enormous power’s not our best defense

And being thankful we survived despite all that’s gone down

For 20 years including 4 screwed up by a mad clown

But for that clown today is just one more for making bucks

This time by touting comments about two prize-fighting schmucks.

Because that is the way they chose to celebrate the day:

By getting richer while their non-fans remember and pray

That 9/11 won’t ever again be seen to be
