No Longer Prologue

If you are white and feeling guilt about past history
When your ancestors enslaved blacks to make sure they weren’t free
Then come on down to Florida where a brand new bill pending
Will shield lily white folks like you from guilt trips never ending
By making it illegal to talk about history
In ways that make whites feel discomfort to any degree.

Florida’s banned teaching CRT in schools despite

It never having been taught in any school day or night

But as simplistic sound bite it is getting lots of traction

Among those who support DeSantis’ pro-racist action

And they will soon be applauding his latest bill that claims

All history that causes guilt must be shot down in flames.

Florida’s become the test tube modern racist state

For shielding whites from history by restricting debate

About real things that happened before the state’s newest bill

Told racists they could about their family history chill

And stop feeling discomfort, guilt, distress, and anguish too

Because their past is no longer prologue to feeling blue.
